The Trimble Forensics Symposium 2024 will be held April 16-18, 2024 in Owensboro, Kentucky, USA. This event is open to attendees of all skill levels and involvement in forensic investigation and 3D modeling.

April 16

From 7:00 am - 8:00 am we will open registration check-in, followed by an opening ceremony and keynote at 8:15 am. After the opening keynote we have a day of case studies and other breakout sessions hosted by forensic investigation industry leaders. At the end of the day, we will wrap up with another group session outlining the assignments and the mock mass-casualty event on April 17. Lunch will be provided at the Owensboro Convention Center, along with an evening social event with our vendors following the planned day activities.

April 17

We will start the day at 8:00 am with a large-scale, mock mass casualty event staged at an offsite sporting arena. This event will give officers and investigators a chance to work together in teams to document the scene in its entirety. This scenario will draw on multiple disciplines, including crash reconstruction, officer-involved shootings, mapping in low-light/no light, photography, CCTV documentation, shooting reconstruction, and other situations investigators find themselves in.

This will be in a controlled environment, allowing teams to work out how to work together to get the job done so that when it actually happens it will not be a new experience. Lunch will be provided on-site by local food truck vendors and is included in the registration price. Agencies are encouraged to bring their own instruments, cameras, and other CSI tools to work with, if at all possible. The day will wrap up with data collection by the Trimble Forensics team, followed by a catered BBQ social event at a local Owensboro venue.

April 18

On April 18, we will kick off back at the Owensboro Convention Center with a presentation of the data collected by the investigating teams. We will then break out into smaller hands-on sessions where officers will have the chance to work with the processed data to produce an analysis or deliverable pertinent to their field of study. We will wrap up the symposium at noon for travel back home.

Suggested Items to Bring

Please bring mapping instruments, including GNSS, optical total stations, terrestrial laser scanners, and accompanying data collectors, clipboards, evidence markers/tents, digital cameras, and laptop computers with a 3-button mouse.
